New stamp collection
Maxine Cannon, General Manager of Isle of Man Stamps & Coins, said, “This is a celebration of some of the biggest manufacturers, many of whose machines and riders went onto become household names at the Isle of Man TT, recognised as the sternest test for machine and rider alike. We expect this to be a popular collection with motorcycling fans of all ages.”
Each of the First Class stamps feature an image, from the Mortons archive, of the motorcycle in action or a painting of a classic engine, as created by motorcycle enthusiast Graham Crowley.
A collection of twelve stamps which celebrate innovation in motorcycle engines.
The Isle of Man TT course has been recognised as the sternest test for machine and rider in motorsport for more than one hundred years. Throughout this time the cream of British engineers and manufacturers have showcased their innovative work and proved its resilience. This stamp issue, designed by David Bloomfield and EJC Design focuses on these engines in a truly unique and captivating way.
Each of the twelve First Class stamps feature a painting of a classic engine as created by Graham Crowley, a renowned painter and motorcycle enthusiast, or an image of the motorcycle in action, taken from Mortons Archive, one of the greatest collections of motorcycle images in the world. The bikes featured are, Zenith, Excelsior Manxman, Douglas Flat Twin, AJS 500 V4, Vincent V Twin Series C and Manx Norton Single. The riders featured are Eric Longden, Dennis Parkinson, Freddie Dixon, Walter Rusk, Alex Phillip and Harold Daniell.
Isle of Man official first day cover
This official Isle of Man Post Office First Day Cover features the complete set of stamps from the 'Great British Motorcycles' Collection.
The stamps are cancelled with the first day of issue and feature a unique postmark. The envelope features bibliographical details about Graham Crowley along with information about Mortons Archive, one of the greatest collections of motorcycle images in the world.

This full colour folder provides details about the engines featured from each stamp from this Isle of Man Post Office collection.
The gripping text is written by David Wright who has a lifelong interest in motorcycles, is the author of several books on the Isle of Man TT races and Vincent motorcycles. He has also contributed to previous Isle of Man stamp issues.
It also includes a mint condition set of all twelve stamps from this innovative collection and is accompanied with striking photography and colourful paintings by renowned painter Graham Crowley.
